This new modelling agency represents the LGBTQ+ community
Did someone say the fashion industry wasn’t diverse?
Casting director, Cody Chandler, recently founded New Pandemics, a New York casting and management agency solely for LGBTQ+ faces after his frustration with agencies telling their gay models to keep their sexuality on the down low. His new agency represents diversity and encourages the models he represents, to ‘pursue their outside interests’.
We were in disbelief, when we heard that some modelling agencies had been unkind and not supportive of the LGBTQ community! But, male models John Tuite and Carlos Santolalla revealed that they were discouraged from being open about their sexuality by model agencies and similar accusations from other models.
Chandler announced “I want to support people within the agency, but I also want to support the community as a whole.”
To prove his word, 10 per cent of its profits will go back into the LGBTQ+ community, with the first recipient being the Ali Forney Center.
