The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Has Been Shelved
Peace out Victoria’s Secret!
Victoria’s Secret has been shelved after 23 years? What!
You’re probably wondering why Victoria’s Secret fashion show went from 9.7 million viewers down to 3.3 million and we think we know why.
Victoria’s Secret Angel Shanina Shaik spills to The Daily Telegraph, ‘Victoria’s Secret Show won’t be happening this year. I’m sure in the future something will happen, I’m sure they’re trying to work on branding.’
Branding though, Really?
Its crystal clear that after years of controversy and transphobic comments made by Victoria’s Secret CMO Ed Razek, the people have spoken and have had enough.
Earlier this year, Razek made a comment to Vogue that he doesn’t think transgender models should be part of the show because ‘the show is a fantasy’, implying that it would be hard to fantasise over a transgender.
We couldn’t disagree more.
Although Razek has publicly apologised, stating that his behaviour and comments were ‘insensitive’, Victoria’s Secret has taken the hit and the decision to pull the show came after receiving tremendous amounts of criticism for allegations of cultural appropriation.
Okay, enough bad news. We may have lost a lingerie brand but have gained another with Rhianna’s Savage x Fenty lingerie, which celebrates all shapes, sizes and ethnicities.
Peace out Victoria’s Secret, we hope that you come back more cultured. If you do.
