Runway: Zimmermann Spring '19
An all Aussie classic
Always a favourite.
Our local hero, Zimmermann, showcased last night while we were sleeping, and it's quite fitting because every look to walk down that runway was a dream.
If you were watching the live stream on the brand's Instagram, you may have been slightly distracted by the intense arguing of the camera men fighting for the best spot all throughout the show. So we've put together an album of the best looks so you can avoid that drama.
The Spring range is called 'Ninety-Six', named after the 70's TV show, Number 96, which has been likened to the Australian version of Days of our Lives.
According to Zimmermann’s show notes, the program was provocative and progressive in its day, as it explored then-taboo themes such as homosexuality and adultery. For Spring, the designer was inspired by Number 96’s very ’70s costumes, and also its bold representation of sex and sensuality.
Think disco-age tracksuits, bright red short shorts, and paisley-printed mini dresses with peekaboo cut outs from front to back. This season, Zimmermann hasn't strayed too far from her usual free-spirited aesthetic when it comes to billowing sleeves in snow white lace, but some pieces showed are refreshingly innovative and a step out of the old box.
Ah Nicky, you've done it again.
